Cookie Policy
Last updated: May 20, 2026
## 1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small file stored on your device when you visit a website. It allows us to remember your preferences, keep you logged in, or measure usage.
## 2. Cookies we use
### Essential cookies (always active)
Without these cookies, Ask Aurel cannot function. They are **exempted from consent** per CNIL guidelines.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| `sb-*-auth-token` | Keep your session active | 1 week |
| `NEXT_LOCALE` | Remember your language | 1 year |
| `__cf_bm` (Cloudflare) | Anti-bot protection (Turnstile) | 30 minutes |
| Stripe Checkout cookies | Payment security | Duration of transaction |
### Local preferences (localStorage, not cookies)
| Item | Purpose |
|---|---|
| `aurel_theme` | Remember dark/light mode |
| `aurel_onboarding_done` | Don't re-show the welcome tour |
| `aurel_cookie_consent` | Remember your cookie choice |
### Analytics cookies (with your consent only)
Currently **disabled**. If we enable a statistical analysis tool in the future (e.g., Vercel Analytics, Plausible, or Google Analytics), a banner will explicitly request your consent before any deposit.
## 3. Manage your cookies
You can at any time:
- **Refuse non-essential cookies** via the banner shown on first visit
- **Change your choice** at the bottom of this page ("Update preferences")
- **Delete all cookies** via your browser settings
⚠️ Refusing essential cookies will make Ask Aurel unusable (you won't stay logged in).
## 4. Third-party cookies
When redirected to Stripe for payment, Stripe sets its own secure cookies. See [Stripe's cookie policy](https://stripe.com/cookies-policy/legal).
## 5. Contact
